Unlock the secrets of research methodology and biostatistics.
Overview
This integrated course covers Research Methodology (AYPG-RM) and Biostatistics (AYPG-BS) as prescribed under the NCISM Outcome-Based Dynamic Curriculum for MD/MS Ayurveda Semester I.
The course is designed to provide postgraduate students with a strong conceptual, analytical, and exam-oriented foundation required for understanding and conducting Ayurvedic research. It addresses the common difficulties faced by first-year PG students who are often new to research principles and statistical reasoning.
Research Methodology focuses on developing a systematic research approach, including literature search and critical appraisal, identification of research gaps, formulation of research questions and hypotheses, selection of study designs, ethical and regulatory aspects, protocol and synopsis writing, dissertation structure, scientific writing, publication ethics, and evidence-based Ayurveda.
Biostatistics complements this by providing essential tools for data analysis and interpretation, covering descriptive and inferential statistics, probability, sampling techniques, sample size determination, tests of significance, parametric and non-parametric tests, measures of disease frequency, correlation, regression, and survival analysis.
Special emphasis is placed on integrating both subjects, exam orientation and answer-writing, application in synopsis, dissertation, and publications, and bridging classical Ayurvedic concepts with modern scientific methodology.
By the end of the course, students will be able to design research studies, apply appropriate statistical methods, interpret research findings accurately, and develop a strong foundation for postgraduate research and academic advancement, fully aligned with NCISM syllabus and evaluation standards.
Key Highlights
Integration of Research Methodology and Biostatistics rather than studying them in isolation
Exam orientation, including question patterns, answer-writing expectations, and assessment criteria
Application in synopsis preparation, dissertation work, and publications
Bridging classical Ayurvedic research concepts with modern scientific methodology
